I'm back..! I had a long, long trip to Bangkok, and while it wasn't entirely enjoyable and fun, it was definitely interesting and eventful... Day 1: We arrived in Bangkok in the afternoon... It's about an hour earlier there, than in Singapore... Then, the shop that used to sell really nice Thai food disappeared... So, daddy decided to bring us to the food court in Platinum shopping centre... Well, we ate A LOT, then walked about there... We were peeved with the three guys (daddy, Daryl and Sean) who wouldn't stop walking to let us window shop properly... They were obviously super bored staring at girly stuff, so we were saying among ourselves that we would come back again, just the three girls, to shop... Little did we know just how that wish got granted... Anyway, when we got back, we took a Tutuk, which is a kind of taxi, except about a hundred times more dangerous than those we have in Singapore... The six of us squeezed into the Tutuk, and it was really comfortable, I have to say... We were woo-ing and wah-ing at the way the driver drove, and the way he cut into the traffic, and the way he drove on the wrong lane of the road, and he drove at a really high speed... Day 2: Went to Tivoli coffeeshop for breakfast... Daryl was super disappointed that there wasn't any bacon, for some reason... Mmm, so, after breakfast, we went to Siam Paragon to shop... The shopping centre looks like some kind of Bugis or Paragon in Singapore... The prices too... So we didn't really buy much stuff, but rather window shopped mostly, though Sean did get some stuff... Hahas... After walking and walking, and walking, daddy brought us to Sukhumvit 24 for seafood... He's promised us that since some years ago... Anyway, the way they promoted their seafood was quite cool... "If it swims, we have it," which is saying a lot, especially since there were shark prototypes hanging from the ceiling, and there weren't any shark fin, Salmon, Tuna, or stuff like that... Well, that night, the three of us (Daryl, Sean and I) lied in bed, playing a game that Sean thought up with his friend... It's too troublesome to explain it here, but it really got us laughing late into the night... Of course, that's when the first of our troubles there started, when you least expect it... Day 3: Mummy woke me up in the morning, saying Daryl had vomited and had diarrhoea during the night... WHAT..??? It was an obvious case of food poisoning... The lucky thing was that mummy packed along charcoal tablets and stuff like that, and Sean's mum, self-proclaimed Queen of vomiting, brought along anti-vomiting pills... So, after a light breakfast, the three guys stayed in the hotel to rest and accompany Daryl (they were tired of going out), and the three girls went to Platimun shopping centre again... Before heading there, we went to the roadside stalls nearby first, to get some pants for daddy and chokers for my friends... Then, we trekked through the shopping centre and bought some stuff... After walking, Sean's mum was complaining that she was super tired, and we were too, so we decided to take a Tutuk back to the hotel... Hahas... Here's where the second of our list of troubles happened... Sean's mum refused to pay 100 baht for the trip back, and another one offered us 10 baht back... It was highly suspicious, but we were all tired, so we just chanced it and agreed... Of course, only while driving did he tell us he wanted to get a coupon for free petrol, and kept pleading with us to allow him to drive us to a shopping centre to stay there for "10 minutes and more, more," for him to collect the coupon, then he'd drive us back... Sean's mum was furious, while mummy was scared... I was a bit disconcerted, and it made me giggly, for some reason... I always smile and laugh at the wrong time... Anyway, after scolding him, Sean's mum agreed to just go there for awhile... We stepped in, refused to enter the gold shop, and just stood around the souvenirs section for about 10 minutes... When we came out, his face was dark with anger... Thinking back now, I realise he had a sort of agreement with this shopping centre to bring stupid tourists like us there, and he'd earn commission if we bought things... So, we refused to ride back to the hotel and walked back instead... He didn't get his 10 baht anyway, if you're curious... Back at the hotel, daddy seemed rather upset, rather than teasing as we had expected... Hmph... That night, after dinner, daddy seemed thoroughly bored, lying on the bed with Daryl and Sean, so I agreed to go with him for Thai massage... Mummy wanted to stay with Daryl in the hotel, while Sean didn't want to go with so little people, and his mum just bathed... On the way there, daddy started to worry that people would think I was his Thai social escort as I had my hair down and all, so he introduced me to the lady boss (she remembers him from last year) and the masseur as his daughter, of course... Hahas... We were laughing about it back at the hotel that night... And the Thai massage was 2 hours straight, and it was utterly relaxing and revitalising... Day 4: (5th December, special day) It was the King's birthday, and everywhere we went, there were loads of people wearing pink shirts in celebration of his birthday... We went to Jatujak to shop... It's a place for bargains, and cheaper than wholesale stuff shopping area... We walked through it, and were back to back, and shoulder to shoulder with locals and tourists alike... Squeezing our way through, we still managed to get some stuff for ourselves, and for relatives and friends back home... I saw an entire alley where they sold bunnies, hamsters and rabbits, and it just took everything to tear myself away from that place... They were so breathtakingly adorable, especially one of the bulldogs... On the way back, Daryl got a shock when seeing mummy's bag... Third of our troubles... Somebody had used a knife and cut a long slit down the back of her bag... We all got an almighty bound of shock... After living for so long in Singapore, robbing and pickpocketing was something of terribly unfamiliar to us... We quickly searched through her bag, and fortunately, only the bag and a wallet was cut... Everything else was safe and secure, and most importantly, the passports and stuff were still sitting snugly in the middle of her bag... The only things that went missing were some sanitary pads... So, we were joking later on that the thief must have been pretty desperate to cut someone's bag for pads... Hahas... It did make for some pretty funny moments, though mummy was quite sad about the bag, it's from my godma... Anyway, after going back to the hotel to wash up and stitch up mummy's bag, Sean's mum wanted to go to Mah Boon Krong for dinner... Day 5: Woke up the next morning and Sean became the next patient for the two eager yet distraught nurses... He came down with a case of food poisoning too, together with slight fever... I helped to do some sponging after his mum realised I knew home nursing... Hahas... So, first aid did come in handy after all... Of course, the three guys stayed in the hotel again, while the three girls went to Platinum shopping centre AGAIN... We bought KFC for the guys back at the hotel, and spent a lot of the day in the two connected rooms chatting and looking at the stuff we bought... That night, we went for some ramen at Siam Paragon... The ramen was horrible... The moment they set the bowl in front of us, I gagged... It smelt so strongly of urine... It turned out to be bamboo shoots, and for some reason, the rest of the patrons there seemed to love it... There were fireworks that night to continue to celebrate the King's birthday, and some were pretty awesome... Day 6: Woke up super early in the morning for breakfast, then packed up and headed towards the airport... During the security check, the scanner found some metal on my person, and they made me remove my shoes to go through the scanner... I couldn't believe it... On the plane back, I found myself seated right beside the emergency exit, for the first time in my life.... How pathetic is that..? Sean and Daryl were beside me... The air stewardess came and instructed us on what to do in the case of an emergency, when the crew shouts "Evacuate, evacuate, evacuate..!" I was supposed to pull something out, and catch the 15kg door hatch when it falls inwards, then throw it out of the plane... Sean promised to help me catch it, or throw my body out during evacuation if the door lands on my head and knocks me out... How sweet of him... Hahas... Back in Singapore, on the way back home, we met an Indian girl who was crying and said she had to go to Tan Tock Seng hospital urgently, and asked the way, and begged for some travel money... We helped her, and got scolded by daddy later on, 'cos he had got conned too many times, and said she had a earpiece in her ear, and didn't appear genuinely upset... Well, I've finally completed this long, long post, and I'm tired... Now, maybe you'd like to rate my trip for me... Hahas...

It's been quite awhile since I last blogged... Hahas... Before I start anything, I'll be going overseas, to Bangkok again, of course, from 2nd to 7th December... So, if I happen not to reply any SMSes, I'm so sorry... I don't think I have auto-roam on my handphone, so I probably won't even be able to receive and read any messages... I've been thinking quite a bit lately... It's all well to be confident and self-assured when dealing with things, especially problems that occur out of no where, but can one feel confident all the time..? I guess everybody has their moments of self-doubt and hesitation, be it in the face of adverse situations or more minor things like tests, exams and the like... However, there are times when I feel totally unprepared for anything life throws at me, or any decisions people make for me, even those I make for myself... It's almost as if I wasn't given an instruction manual to life... Hahas... It's a weird topic, I know, but I just found myself musing over it recently... My whole life consists entirely of trial and error... I'm currently sneezing my head off... Woohoos..!

It's finally the most anticipated day of the year..! The last day of school... I've been waiting for this day, and dreaming about this day since the start of the year, especially when there're loads of tests waiting, or when the homework starts to stack up... It's like a long-awaited dream finally coming true, or at least, I guess that's what I'm supposed to be feeling right now... But I've been so exhausted after the Japanese visit and haven't been having enough sleep that I just couldn't gear up the energy and spirit needed to celebrate... OMG... We're going for the H1N1 vaccine jab now... Sigh... It's such a sudden decision... I.HATE.INJECTIONS. Period.

Went out with my family yesterday... It has been awhile since we went out together like that... Exams, homework, fatigue and other commitments always seem to push going out together, out of the picture... But anyway, it was definitely nice... We went to my grannie's house first, then on to Vivo for dinner and window shopping... Or rather, mummy and me desperately tried to do some window shopping while daddy and Daryl just walked on, heedless of us... That's the guys for you... Guess that's the same scene we'll be seeing in Bangkok this time... Except, Sean will most probably be joining them... Hahas... I'm quite excited about it... But Sean's mum seems even more excited... She's started packing already... It's still about 2 weeks away... Okok, now that I just typed that, it seems to be coming quite fast... Ooh..! Just can't wait... Hahas...

I've been in an incredibly good mood today, the moment I got off the train at Queenstown MRT station, on the way home... It was pouring with rain, everywhere wet and blurry, heavy shushing sound of the rain enveloping the station... I wonder why, but it seems we have all been forced to grow up early... Be it by our circumstances, or by dictation by society... If we don't grow up, there's no way of catching up anymore, once we fall behind... Such is the pace of today's society... It sounds stupid, like General Paper, but this rain made me feel young again... I was singing out loud, after continuously checking that no one was in sight... Then, when my shoe became wet, I didn't care already... I splashed in puddles all the way home... Hahas..! I would have flung my umbrella aside and happily stood in the rain, if not for my precious Michael Jackson book in my bag... Shouldn't have brought that book to school today... The rain, and temperature makes it feel like it's Christmas..!
Guess what..? I got dismissed from school at 9am today... It's the earliest I've ever been dismissed from school... Our class went out to McDonald's to eat, or at least, half the class... The other half went to KFC... I think these two fast food restaurants have become popular SAJC students' haunts already... Anyway, after breakfast/ lunch (I wonder which it was), a small group of us headed to my house... Chamelene, Olive and Jessica wanted to bake... Hahas... Mummy suggested letting us bake marble cake... So, Olive, Chamelene, Pek Har, Jessica, Terrence, Terry, Keat Onn and Benedict came over today... We started on the marble cake first, while the guys went to harass my poor hamsters... Benedict mistook it for a chicken... I wonder why... While preparing the mixture, it was actually quite chaotic, as mummy described it later... Flour was flying, sugar on the table, egg white on the newspaper, over-mixing of the mixture and stuff... But I won't deny it was really fun, watching them argue over who to do what, and whose turn it was to do what... Mummy, standing aside supervising, also had a good laugh... Hahas... She liked it a lot when Olive only folded the egg white into half of the mixture... So, while waiting for the cake to bake (40minutes), they took out Terry's Game of Life and started playing... It was kinda complicated, but fun all the same... The girls played the piano till Olive had to leave early for CO... Well, so the day was kinda dedicated to board games... After the board games, they continued with Monopoly... Then, they moved on to O2 Mania, which Alvin helped install in my laptop... I still find it amazing, and really incredible how Alvin manages to play it so well... I can't even see the things moving properly... I'm sure Jessica and Pek Har agrees with me... Hahas... Just found out about the appreciation video for Sir Lee this Friday... I'll only be dismissed from school by 12 I think... But I hope the SJ training in school will drag, then maybe I'll be able to go down and have a look... I've been so detached from SJ, I actually forgot the sec3s have taken over already... Was still expecting the sec4s to be in charge... Hope I'll be able to go down soon...

I haven't been blogging recently... Simply didn't have the time to blog at all... We had the Japanese Exchange program with Omi Brotherhood school last Saturday and Sunday... It was really really tiring, now that I get the chance to sit down and think back... On Saturday, we went early to prepare admin matters and practice the dance... The Japanese students sang their school song as their performance... Us, oh well, we danced to the gummy bear song... Herianti and I, we were laughing so hard throughout it... It was so embarrassing... Anyway, we got introduced to our buddies, and my buddy was Hitomi Miyamura... Chamelene's buddy was Hitomi's good friend, Yukino... I have no idea what Terrence's and Shin's buddies are called... So, we brought them to Chinatown and loads of places... I can't even remember where in Singapore we brought them to already... The first day with them was a blur... All I can remember of that day is a lot of Japanese, a lot of smiling, a lot of feeling awkward, and a lot of MRTs, so much so that I'm starting to feel a bit sick of taking MRTs... Well, on Sunday, it was much better... Maybe 'cos we weren't that awkward already, or perhaps 'cos the itinery(correct spelling?) was nicer to us... Shopping and all... But the guys seemed absolutely miserable... Hahas... At around 6 plus or 7, we had buffet dinner at their hotel before they set off for the airport... People were laughing, joking, taking pictures, and some were sobbing... Oh well, don't really know what to say about it, but it was just really, really, really tiring... Well, I finally decided to buy the Michael Jackson biography today... Jackson unveiled: The complete story of the King of Pop By James Fletcher, Jan Disley and Ros Wynne-Jones... It's expensive, and mummy got disgruntled with me when I wanted to buy it... But, I got to buy it in the end, and I read till I cried... I managed to finish it today, and it was just so touching, and so upsetting... Mummy was disgusted with me, saying that I paid money just to make myself cry... Sigh... But nobody should be subjected to that sort of torment, and hurt... It's appalling... Michael Jackson said this: If you enter this world knowing you are loved and leave this world knowing the same... then everything in between can be dealt with... |
